Washington: Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday announced the addition of five Islamic militants accused of specifically appointed global terrorist lists, which require any ownership blocking or interest in the US property they have.
The appointment also exposes the possibility of individual US sanctions or foreign financial institutions involved in certain transactions with five.
They included Bonomade Machod Omar, a senior military commander of the Islamic State Affiliate in Mozambique, US Secretary, Antony Blinken, said in a statement.
Omar led a group of extremists who killed dozens of people in an attack at Amarula Hotel in Palma in March, Blinken said.
He was also responsible for attacks elsewhere in Mozambique and in Tanzania, said Blinken.
Hitta and Salem Ould Al-Hasan, senior leaders of Jama’at Al-Qaeda based in Mali al-Islam Wal-Muslimin, also appointed, as well as Ali Mohamed Rage and Abdikadir Mohamed Abdikadir, Al-Quamed leaders, leaders The Shabaab Somalia group, Blinken said.
