Washington: The United States will begin sending 3.5 million doses of Covid-19 Vaccine Moderna to Argentina on Friday, part of the bilateral agreement between countries, said the White House official.
The official, who did not want to be named, said the US government would also buy 500 million Pfizer-Bontech vaccines to be distributed throughout the year to the United States of America and 92 lower middle-income countries.
This will be an additional $ 2 billion donated to Covax, the World Health Organization scheme to distribute doses to poor countries, the official said.
The United States has several weeks sharing a vaccine with Taiwan, Brazil, El Salvador, Bangaldesh, Peru and Pakistan among other countries.
The US will also share more vaccines with Haiti, the White House said on Thursday, a day after the country received 500,000 doses donated by the US.
President Biden also said he was ready to send a vaccine to Cuba if he assured an international organization would manage them.
In June, the World Bank promised to increase the available funds for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccine and the spread to $ 20 billion from the previous target of $ 12 billion, quoting a sharp increase in overall financing demand from developing countries.
