Chandigarh: If a pregnant woman has appeared paracetamol, her newborn may suffer from asthma.
The latest review of systematic studies found the relationship between the exposure to the in-Utero paracetamol (before birth) and the development of children’s asthma.
“There are studies where it has been seen that children with asthma have mothers who take this medicine during pregnancy.
Seeing this association, many observational studies carried out,” said Dr.
Manvi Singh, the lead author of the research from the Telemedicine Department, PGI.
However, the association does not imply a cause and thus the cure has not been seen as the culprit for respiratory diseases, although research has found a correlation.
This study has been published in the ‘pediatric pulmonology’ and has been carried out in collaboration by the Pediatric Department, Telemedicine Department, PGI, Glasgow University, Scotland and Economic Research and Results, Smartanalyst Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad.
In many cases, the published medical literature has said that of the 24 million people affected by asthma throughout the world, seven million are children.
Even though asthma childhood settled in adolescence, it affects the overall growth of children.
Research reviews are considered the main study conducted in the last five years, from January 2016 to March 2021.
“We suggest a simple relationship between the exposure to paracetamol in prenatal life and initial infacer, with the occurrence of mengi and / or childhood,” said the research.
Research Overview is a collection of systematic studies that compose evidence from many studies.
“Because all primary studies carried out are based on observational studies, we did not find it strong evidence and recommend random control trials for this.
Associations were found based on this study, but did not imply the causes of asthma,” said Dr.
Manvi Singh.
Random controlled trials in New Zealand to prove to ensure that paracetamol is a cause of asthma or not.
“Paracetamol is a safest analgesic and because there is no alternative to it, it is still recommended for pregnant women,” said Dr.
Manvi.
