Vadodara: The death toll in the incidence of food poisoning at Devgadh Baria Taluka from Dahod District rose to seven on Tuesday with three more people who surrendered in the hospital.
More than a dozen people from Bhulvan Village in Devgadh Baria were hospitalized on Monday after they fell ill after consuming food at religious ceremonies.
The incident occurred at the ‘Warar’ ceremony held by the tribal community there.
Food is also served at the ceremony.
The source said that around 50 people had attended the event.
On Monday night, four were sick after the event died even when nine others rushed to the hospital.
The other three died at the hospital in Devgadh Baria and Godhra overnight.
Dahod collector Harshit District Gosavi said that the team was sent to the village to ask about this problem.
Samples of food goods there have been collected.
Autopsy is also done to identify the cause of death.
Gosavi said that no one else except those who were hospitalized and the deceased had been affected.
He added that the symptoms of the instructions died in several types of poisoning.
However, he added that the reason would definitely come out only after the Viscera report arrived.
The police said that especially, death seemed to be caused by food poisoning.
“Viscera and histopathological samples have been collected for forensic examinations to ensure the final cause and nature of poisoning,” he added.
Mixing pesticides cannot be ruled out, police said, adding that only the Viscera report can help determine the right cause.
