Jaipur: Locals from Miyan Ka Bara, a village in Barmer, who managed to get their hamlet named back to Mahesh Nagar in 2018, now also managed to get the train station renamed after pursuing this problem for three years.
Notifications for the same issued on January 18 and now North Jodhpur Division Train Station Western Railway will be called Mahesh Nagar station.
Apparently, the villagers have been seeking to change this name since the independence claimed that the real name of Mahesh Ro Bado and Miyan Ka Bara made him appear as a Muslim village because they had difficulty arranging marriage.
The village that is replaced by the name is located in Siwana Tehsil from Barmer and has a resident of around 400 people.
Former Sarpanch Hanwant Singh said, “Since 1656, our village was called Mahesh Ro Bado but for decades, the name turned into Miyan Ka Bara.
When I became Sarpanch in 2010, I decided that I would get the name back to its original form.
While we managed to get a name change to be carried out on June 1, 2018, the train station was still called by the old name.
We started the process again and sent the required documents to the authorities and finally the notification was issued.
We are very happy that now both villages and train stations will have the same name.
” “The village and train station can have different names but we want that they must be the same to avoid confusion.
As a notification has been issued recently, the board will immediately be replaced at the station “, added Singh.
The copy of the notification has also been sent to the state government along with other stakeholders.
