Pune: The supply of irregular vaccines during the first week of this month has had an impact on the drive throughout the Pune Metropolitan area (PMR).
Officials with PMC said their vaccination drive could have good momentum only for a few days a week because of the supply of intermittent shots from the center.
A PMC official said, “On Wednesday, for example, the Civic body only has around 60 operational vaccination sites for covishield.
There isn’t enough dose.
On Tuesday, we have 191 centers.
For Thursday, we are left without a covaxin dose; only covaxin offered, from only six vaccination centers.
Sanjay Deshmukh, assistant director (medical), Pune Circle, said the supply of vaccines to the region tended to stay at the current level until next month, at least until shots like Johnson and Johnson vaccines or other brands available.
The recent center said that Russian-made sputnik will soon be available for free in government centers.
Deshmukh said, “We received around 2.8 lakh vaccine doses during the first week of July.
The center has been instructed to spend their stock, as soon as possible, to get the next one.
“In Pimpri Chinchwad, PCMC has several thousand covishield doses left for Thursday (the Civic Agency has a vacuine vacation on Wednesday).
PCMC officials said for Thursday, a total of eight sites would offer the first dose of Covishield to the age group 18-44.
Eight others will offer The first and second doses to 45-plus groups.
Four vaccination sites will offer Covaxin to groups 18-44 and 45-plus.
