Mumbai: Offshore security training, ‘Prasthan’ named “was conducted in the offshore development area (ODA) from Mumbai on November 16, by the Western Naval Command (WNC).
This exercise provides all shareholders as a realistic scenario to assess their readiness to respond and fight contingencies in West Oda, also to operate together in a coordinated manner.
This exercise was carried out on the MHN Ongc platform located around 94 miles of sea in the west of Mumbai.
Contingencies such as terrorist intrusion, bomb explosion, major fire, oil spills, excessive men, evacuation of victims, loss of ship control and mass evacuation carried out.
A defense official said this exercise was carried out every six months and was an important element to ensure offshore security and aimed to integrate the efforts of all maritime stakeholders, including the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Customs, Customs, State Fisheries Department and Marine Police , in perfecting SOP and response-actions against various possibilities in Oda.
