WASHINGTON: The White House was grateful that former US President Donald Trump received and promoted to get a Covid-19 vaccine amplifier shot, Press Secretary Jen PSAKI said on Thursday.
Former Republican President recently said in an interview that he received a booster shot, and called the vaccine “one of the greatest achievements of mankind”.
“People who became very sick and went to the hospital were people who did not take vaccines,” Trump said in an interview with Conservative Commentator Candace Owens.
“If you take a vaccine, you are protected.” “We are grateful that the former president gets a booster, and we are also grateful that he clarifies in a recent interview that they work and they are safe,” PSAKI told reporters in a briefing on Thursday.
Only 62% of Americans are fully vaccinated, one of the lowest levels among wealthy countries, some thanks to the Pushback led by the Republic against Democratic President’s vaccination campaign Joe Biden.
Trump revealed on Sunday during an interview with former Fox Bill O’Reilly news personality that he received a booster shot, triggering Jeers and Hectoring from a direct audience.
Public support for Booster represents a change of tone for Trump who said in September that he might not get it.
More than 800,000 Americans have died of Covid-19, the most in any country.
Most of the deaths this year have been among those who are not vaccinated.
