Ranchi: Head of Wife Minister Hemant Soren Kalpana Soren, two of their small sons and Kalpana sisters have been tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday in the midst of a surge in the state.
Fourteen other at the official residence of the Minister of Chief has also been tested positively, said an official.
The official said the minister’s chairman also underwent a test but the result was negative.
Previously during the second wave, Soren’s eldest son had tested positive.
All those tested are positive somewhat symptoms and the possibility of being treated in house isolation, the official said.
He further said the sample of 12 people from CM residence was collected and sent for testing on Friday and nine had been tested positively.
On Saturday, a sample of 62 people was collected and while several reports had come, including five people who tested positively, other reports were awaited.
Previously on that day, the Minister of Health Banna Gupta had also tested positive.
He has announced his status through Tweet and asks all others who come into contact with him to isolate themselves and are tested.
This is the second time Gupta has been positively tested.
Meanwhile, 5,081 people were tested positive throughout the state on Saturday.
That number is 3,825 on Friday.
The number of victims remained low at three compared to eight reported the previous day.
On Saturday, the act of active cases in the state has reached 22,287 with 1,186 people declared recovered.
