Noida: A 20-year-old woman against depression allegedly jumped into the death of the 15th floor apartment in Noida, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Wednesday night in a high-rise community in the 120 sector, under the Phase 3 police station area, the official said.
“The woman has lived with her family in the apartment.
He suffered from depression for some time and consulted with a mental health professional,” said a police spokesman.
“Suicide was reported on Wednesday night.
The family told the police that he seemed to take extreme steps because of his depression,” he said.
The body was sent for post mortem and further legal proceedings carried out by the police, the official added.
Depression is a common disease throughout the world, affecting more than 26 crores, said World Health Organization data.
At the worst, depression can cause suicide with around eight lakh people take extreme steps globally every year, he added.
Suicide is the main cause of the second death in the age group 15-29 years but can be prevented with timely intervention, WHO said.
