The woman died after the transfusion of ‘wrong blood’ at Odisha Hospital

Rourkela: A 25-year-old woman died after the blood of the wrong group was allegedly given to him in a hospital in the Sundaragarh Odisha district.
Sarojini was stiff, a resident of the village of Betta in Kutra Block, was treated at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) on Thursday afternoon.
The patient suffered from sickle cell anemia and he was under blood transfusion, an official said on Friday.
The family member accused that the woman was managed by the wrong blood, because he died.
“The blood group is positive, but he is given a positive B,” said a relative to reporters.
The Inspector of the Kutra BK Bihari Police Office said a registered case and the body was preserved for further investigation.
RGH has formed an investigation committee to see this problem and ensure that the action will be taken if something is found guilty.
Inspector RGH Jagdishchandra Behera denied every possible negligence.
Behera said blood was given only after cross-matching – the test was carried out before transfusion to check whether the blood of the donor was compatible with the blood of the recipient.
“Is that a wrong blood group case, then the patient will die within 10-15 minutes,” he added.
