New Delhi: A 26-year-old woman who lives on the JNU campus died in mysterious state in Delhi on Thursday morning, police said.
Madhuri Kumari, a resident of Buxar in Bihar, lived in Brahmaputra Hostel on the University of Nehru Jawaharlal campus along with her husband who pursued a PhD from the university, they said.
The police suspected it became a suicide case and said he was suspected of jumping from the second floor of the hostel and dead but only post-mortem examination would ensure the cause of death.
There are no suicide records that have recovered, police said, added an ongoing investigation to determine the sequence of events.
“The woman fell from a height and was taken to the nearest hospital where she gave up on her injury.
We were later informed by the hospital administration,” said a police officer from the Southwest district.
“Detailed investigation is being carried out into this matter to ensure the right cause of death but we suspect he committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of the hostel building,” he said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and the exact cause of death will be ascertained through the awaited autopsy report.
