Ahmedabad: A 26-year-old woman from Amraiwadi committed suicide on Sunday by jumping into the river with her son who was five months old after alleged abuse by her husband and in-laws.
Hired with a private bank in Navrangpura, he underwent a long leave to care for a baby.
According to FIR submitted with police Sabarmati Riverfront (West), Manha Vaghela left his home with his baby on Sunday morning and reached the river bank near Ellis Bridge from where he jumped into the river with the child.
Fire and Emergency Service Personnel Ahmedabad (AFES) restored both the body on Sunday afternoon.
The dead brother, Jatin Vaghela was told about the incident.
The body was taken to Ahmedabad’s civil hospital for postmortem.
Then, the Sabarmati Police Riverfront (West) registered a case against Sweetha’s husband Rajesh Maru and in-laws for the reduction of suicide and domestic violence.
Manha married Maru on June 20, 2020.
Since Maru is very married and drinking habits, his family opposed the match.
They yelled at all the relationships with him after the marriage but realized that her husband often harassed it.
On December 8, he met his family members last time and told his trials.
“He told us that Maru struggled every day after being drunk.
He forced him to return to work and start producing so he could get money to buy liquor.
But the baby was too young and impossible for Manaha to immediately join working,” Jatin said.

He said that his parents comforted him and sent him back to Maru, hoping the situation would improve someday.
However, on Saturday and Sunday intervention, he was beaten by Maru after he left home with a baby and took extreme steps.
