The work was fluted on Jalan Avinashi May Foil Metro Rail Project in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The ongoing toll road project on Jalan Avinashi poses a challenge against the Metro train project proposed on stretching.
While the pillar-pillar was established for a highway project for more than 10km which was estimated at 1,600 crore Rs, the Minister of Public Works, Highway, and a small port E V Velu said on Saturday that the pillar could not be used for the Metro project.
He responded to members of the Global Congkan and Commerce Forum and the Indian Industry (ICCI) Coimbatore, who were looking for steps for the development of Western region infrastructure to encourage industrial growth.
Citing a study was conducted recently to explore whether the pillars established for toll roads can be used to operate the Metro on the same route, the minister said the bridge design was found not suitable for metro rail operations.
“We explore the possibility of operating the tram on both sides of the pillar.
But it will require the eviction of shops on both sides, which can invite people’s anger.
I cannot guarantee anything on the Metro train project on Jalan Avinashi.
But the survey was ongoing in three Other routes include Mettupalayam Road, Trichy Road and Sathyamangalam Road, “he said.
The state government has allocated additional Rs 15 Crore to build slopings in six places on the toll road for vehicles to go down and climb flyovers, Velu said.
Talking about the expansion of Coimbatore International Airport, the minister said the acquisition of land would be accelerated for completing projects.
On an uneven stretch of Bypass L & T for 23km from Neehaul to Madukkarai, the minister tried to find a solution within a week after talking to L & T, which built a bypass.
“The main road project is considered important in the city.
Coimbatore development is the priority of the state government.
We will extend support for its infrastructure needs.
The work of the coimbatore road expansion – Karur has been resolved and the work will be completed in the next two years,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by lawmakers in the western region including coimbatore mp pr natarajan, pollachi mpk shanmuga sundaram, nilgiris mpa king, tiruppur mpk subbarayan, namakkal mpakp chinraj, erode mp ganeshmurthi, karur mp sr parthiban and dindigul mp velusakamy besides the forest minister k Ramachandran.
