WASHINGTON: Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates has warned of the increasing cases of omicrons throughout the world, saying that the world can enter the worst part of a pandemic because the variant will produce “the worst surge” he has seen so far.
In a series of tweets, Bill Gates said he had canceled most of his vacation plans after his close friend had been infected with the Omicron variant.
“Omicron spreads faster than any virus in history.
Will soon be in every country in the world,” he said.
Noting that “unknown big” is how to turn off its variant, Gates claimed: “Even if it’s only half severe like Delta, it will be the worst surge that we have seen so far because it is very contagious.” He advised people to take booster shots of the covid-19 vaccine, saying it provided the best protection.
“Meanwhile, we all have to pay attention to each other, especially the most vulnerable, whether they live on the road or in another country.
That means wearing a mask, avoiding a large room meeting, and get vaccination.
Get a booster to provide the best protection,” he tweeted.
Bill Gates also claims that a wave of pandemic because Omicron will last less than three months.
“If there is good news here, is that Omicron moves so fast that it is so dominant in a country, the wave there will last less than 3 months.
Some months it can be bad, but I still believe if we take the right steps, Pandemics can end in 2022, “he said further.
Omicron, the first time detected in South Africa in November, has been declared a “variant of worries” by WHO.
Speaking on the briefing on Monday, the head of Dr.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there was no evidence that the variant “spread significantly faster” than the previous dominant version, Delta.
The World Health Organization has urged people to cancel some of their vacation plans to protect public health, because the omicron variant spread globally.
“An event is canceled better than the canceled life,” said Ghebreyesus, adding that “difficult decisions” must be made.
