The worst flood in 40 years of destroying rural Goa, women are afraid of death

Panaji: Goa witnessed the worst and most extensive flood in almost four decades – the last creature in 1982 – on Friday, after the rain ceaselessly destroyed the country for more than a week.
Nearly a thousand houses were damaged, many were collapsed, at least two small washed bridges and sinking roads, mostly in Sattari, Bicholim and Ponda Talukas, in addition to Bardez, Pernem and Dharbandora parts.
So far, a woman is afraid to die.
Landslides also interfere with train traffic and road connectivity between states in Anmod and Chorla Ghats.
“This is the worst flood since 1982.
I myself have witnessed it,” said Chairman of the Sawant Minister of Pramod after examining the affected areas.
“An alleged death of a woman has been reported in Dharbandora,” he said.
“The state has suffered losses on the tone of crores.” Floods have left nearly 832 hectares of agricultural areas badly damaged, and initial losses were pegged at Rs 2.55 Crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Sawant to ask about the safety and welfare of the people in the regions affected by Goa’s flood.
“PM has convinced full support and assistance to the country,” Sawant said.

In Pernem Taluka, 88 houses were damaged, and after the Chapora River began to overflow, eight people were evacuated.
Bardez was also very affected, with 167 houses suffering from small damage and nine people were evacuated.
“In Bikolim Taluka, the Valvanti River overflowed, which damaged 164 houses and more than 40 people were evacuated using a rescue boat.
In Sattari too, Mhadei and Valvanti looked overflowed.
Here, 130 houses have faced big damage.

In Ponda too, people are trapped in the village of USGAO and Vaghurme, and rescue operations are in the afternoon.
“In Salcete, because the Kushawati River, several parts were flooded, but there was no damage to the property.
In Sanguem, 18 houses were damaged and 84 people had been evacuated,” Sawant said.
In Dharbandora, Dudhsagar and Ragada violated his banks produced 135 damaged houses, and 150 people were saved.
In Canacona Taluka, 60 people have been evacuated.
The minister’s chairman has appealed to people in the state not to explore into water without knowledge of the depth.
