Thiruvananthapuram: The government will not cause difficulties for gold jeweler traders who are legally traded and transport their products with all the required documents, the finance minister K n Balagopal said in the assembly on Monday.
Reply to submission in this case by MLA M K K Muneer, the minister said that the e-way bill was introduced, it would ensure transparency.
He said that if there were officials found to cause unnecessary problems for gold traders, the government would take strict action against them.
Increasing this problem, Muneer said that after the incident such as gold smuggling was revealed, gold jewelry traders were seen as if everything was illegally traded.
He said it was because of the problem in the GST structure, traders faced some difficulties.
He said that Kerala was the only state in which cases related to Value Added Tax Contributions (VAT) were still delayed in court.
Calculation of contributions, which flow to Crores Rupees on many traders, cannot be justified, he said.
The minister said that the government had also introduced a one-time settlement scheme to dispose of a delayed case on the VAT in effect before the introduction of GST.
