There are no more than three years, 2nd shifts into courses in Karnataka

Bengaluru: The three-year engineering course offered at the Evening College of the State will be canceled from the academic year 2021-22.
Conversely, colleges can offer a usual four-year program with lateral entries for diploma students.
This step came after order from the All India Board for Technical Education (Aicte).
In Karnataka, several college technical colleges such as the University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) and the BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) have a three-year duration night program.
It’s open to professionals who are diploma holders.
Aspirants must appear for the entrance examination held by the Karnataka exam authority.
According to the norm of Aicte, colleges can offer night programs if they want, but they must be in a usual four-year format.
Diploma students can have lateral entries in the second year.
While Aicte has released an order last year, it was not applied and students were accepted for this program in 2020-21 academic years.
While many academics have supported the decision, showing the quality of deteriorating grasp, some candidates were not happy.
In Uvce, the program began in 1971, with 60 seats each in civilian branches, mechanics and electronics.
Classes are held from 6pm to 9pm and on weekends.
“We have combined seats from mechanical and electronic departments with regular college quota.
Civil engineering chairs have been declared artificial intelligence and engine learning,” said R Venugopal, Representative Chancellor of the University of Bangalore, where UVCE came.
“Quality of learning is a concern.
Students are unusually classy,” said faculty members.
BMSCE has decided to offer a regular four-year course at night for students who want to shift the second year.
“The teacher will continue to teach students who already exist,” Ravishankar B, Principal, Bmsce.
