There are no new Delta Plus cases in the region

Chandigarh: There are no new cases from the Delta Plus (AY.1) variant which is widely watched has been detected in the area which is now dominated by a highly contagious Delta (B.1.617) Covid variant which is alarming (VOC).
In accordance with the latest data from the Indian SARS-COV-2 Genomic Consortium (Insacog), there are no positive tested samples for Delta lineages in Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal and Haryana.
Of the 70 cases of Delta Plus variant who signed the Delta genealogy with additional mutations found in the country, eight had been detected in the area – four in Chandigarh, two in Punjab and one in Himachal and Haryana – in the sample May and June were examined by the National Center for Control Disease and CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology for the original genome sequencing.
The Punjab feature among countries with a large load of variants of concern and sixth place after Maharashtra (10,478), Kerala (5,554), West Bengal (3,423), Delhi (5,353) and Odisha (2,511).
Of the 4,420 variants that are different from the concerns found in the region, the Delta variant has been found in 2,021 samples, accounting 45.72% of the total amount.
In June, the variant was found in 52 samples in Punjab, 11 in Chandigarh and two at Himachal Pradesh.
The Delta variant is said to be 50% more contagious than other Covid lineages.
If it is not contained, it spreads at a faster speed, resulting in an increase in hospitalization and death.
Given it, each state government and the UT government made preparations for the third wave projected which is expected to regard in August.
Punjab Covid Nodal Officer Dr.
Rajesh Bhaskar states that a very contagious Delta variant will be the majority of the variants of concerns found in the state.
“Given it, preparation for the third wave has been made, both infrastructure, labor, medicine and oxygen,” said Dr.
Bhaskar.
The Ministry of Health Uni has asked all states and UTS not to let their guards go down and have put stress on maintaining strict supervision in the district that reported a new VOC.
Countries are also advised to take strict steps, including contact search, sequencing positive sample genomes of people, crowd restrictions and people’s quarrels.
Emphasis has also been placed on community sampling in accordance with the guidelines set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
