Gurgaon: A young man was arrested for allegedly editing mod available online and tried to squeeze money from the owner of the Accommodation Guesting Guesting (PG) in Gurgaon.
He posed as an officer from the State Crime Bureau and demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from the owner of the PG for the Cancellation of FIR, police said.
The man has been identified as Sunil from Bhiwani.
Monu Sihag runs PG facilities for men in New Railway Road.
On July 1, Sunil rented a room for one month after sending evidence of identity with another name, Bijender, and Panipat’s address.
He paid rent 5,500 in advance.
On July 3, Sunil left PG who said his grandmother died.
After a few days he called Monu and said he would not return and look for a refund of the money he had paid.
The PG owner refused and told him to take advantage of the room for a month with a rent.
On July 6, Monu received a copy of the PDF from FIR and a police identity card, Sita Ram.
“I received a call from a man who claimed to be confiscated by the crime branch.
He demanded Rs 1.5 lakh for the cancellation of FIR,” Monu said.
Sunil visited PG on the same day and claimed that he had registered the FIR against Monu and demanded money.
“I visited the police station aware with a copy of the FIR which he sent to me and knew that it was fake,” Monu said.
He added that Sunil downloaded the online FIR registered on July 5 at the conscious police station under the ACT cures and made changes in it.
He changed it to name Monu as a defendant.
Sunil was arrested from Bhiwani on Wednesday.
He has been ordered under the 420 (cheating) section, 467 (forging documents), 468 (forgery for fraud), 471 (using fake documents) and 384 (extortion) IPC in the conscious police station.
“Sunil has been arrested and taken to the delivery of police one day,” said Subhash Benken police spokesman.
