Chennai: suspends punishment to private schools without assistance in the state, including CBSE institutions, Madras High Court has allowed them to collect 85% of the annual fees set for the 2019-20 academic year as an annual cost for the current academic year.
This only applies to parents who are government employees, public sector businesses, professionals and business people who have not suffered income losses due to pandemic, justice said D Krishnakumar.
“Parents who suffer from losing income during this pandemic will create applications to school management, which will consider their request and collect a cost of 75%,” said the court.
The court clarifies that these costs must be collected in six installments on or before February1, 2022.

This separate, justice Krishnakumar said it was the responsibility of the jurisdictional education authority to ensure that no student dropouts.
“If there are difficulties faced by students to continue certain schools, they can approach the jurisdictional education authority, which will make the arrangements needed to accommodate these students at the nearest government school,” said the court.
The court has directed the government to consider the cost of sanctions for each seat that is not filled under the RTE law in private institutions where students cannot accommodate costs.
The court issued orders on batch applications transferred by private schools and their associations trying to allow them to collect the full cost set by the cost fixation panel.
