New Delhi: Graham Reid’s head coach felt the Indian men’s hockey team should not be complacent after the Olympic bronze medal, added that the next six months would be spent to analyze and understand the way in which the side could improve its performance to the next level.
The Indian team won the bronze in the Tokyo match last month, ended 41 years waiting for a medal in sports.
“Third is where we are currently currently, Australia and Belgium consistently playing at a higher level.
We must be able to get to that level.
That is the simple goal that I have for this team,” Reid said as quoted in the release of Indian hockey.
“We will analyze all games, not only ours but all games from various teams for the next six months.
We will arrange a plan what is needed to get to the next level.” This is a smart group, and we will exercise on the things we need to do.
We must continue to improvise and continue to be better.
Deep in Lubuk, the team understood, a bronze medal at the Olympics after 41 years was great, but there was a lot of potential we need to open and show, “Reid added.
Reflecting the performance of the team, said Reid,” this group is very focused and mentally very difficult.
They have absorbed the team’s first-mentality and has great bonds between them.
“At an event like the Olympics, there are so many interference, and it is a very large place so often when you hit the land in the Olympic Village and everyone spreads like ants, but we can be together and it’s together.
Very positive.
“Australia has been nominated for men’s fih coaches from this year along Compatriot Colin Batch and Shane McLeod Belgium.
“Individual awards in team sports usually reflect the quality of teams and support staff,” Reid said.
With a team at a decent rest, Reid highlights that so group returns to the national training camp in Bengaluru, they will hit the land running.
“We have some quality tournaments, and there will be a lot of good competition and we will play the Pro League Fi League.” There will be enough time for us to prepare, we will return to the swing everything after a break that is indeed worth it, “Reid concluded.
