Pune: When all guidelines suggest the use of antibacterial and antibacterials that are careful of Covid, experts, including those from the national task force, becoming increasingly worried about the use of large molnupiravir and azithromycin by doctors who take care of them with minor illness.
Experts say paracetamol and other supportive treatments are good enough to recover from mild diseases.
Only patients who are not vaccinated and with fundamental conditions can be considered high-risk.
These patients need to be monitored for progress towards severe symptoms and can be treated carefully with molnupiravir antivirus, experts add.
“Molnupiravir is currently not recommended for minor illness because of the simple benefits in a population that is not vaccinated.
In the only Molnupiravir study, simple benefits are only seen among patients who are not vaccinated with obesity,” said Sanjay Pujari, a member of the National Covid Task Force.
“Likewise, antibacterial, including azithromycin, is also filled with covid mild patient recipes,” Pujari added.
Mumbai-based critical care expert, Chandrashekhar T, Director (Critical Care) in Fortis Hiranandani, said, “In many mild cases we know it’s purely viral.
They can be treated symptoms.” He said, “Molnupiravir and Azithromycin have not been included in the WHO guidelines and in the UK Free from side effects.
This is also not shown in pregnant women because of the chance of fetal defects.
“Molnupiravir is commercially available and can be purchased with a doctor’s prescription.
