There is no application for virtual internships that must be entertained: Sebi

New Delhi: The capital market regulator Sebi on Wednesday said it would not entertain any application for a virtual internship in his legal department after the government loosened Covid-19 restrictions.

“After relaxation of government advisors relating to full / partial locking and the removal of travel restrictions due to Covid-19, the internship program must be in accordance with the feasibility criteria and other provisions such as those provided in advertising on March 4, 2020,” Sebi said in the notification.
“There is no application for a virtual internship that must be entertained,” he added.

On March 4, 2020, the effect and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) have invited applications for the internship program in the legal department.
Head of the Department or Course Coordinator of each law school or university responsible for the internship program needs to submit applications that recommend no more than three applicants from their law school at a certain quarter, said Sebi.
There is no individual application to be received, it has been added.
Put the feasibility criteria, said Sebi, the applicant must be a student of law school or university recognized by the Indian Bar Board and should finish at least three years from a five-year LLB course or two years of course LLB three years.
In addition, students who pursue LLM also qualify.
Among other criteria, the applicant should get a minimum of 60 percent of aggregate marks or the average cumulative point equivalent to the previous semester results.
“Students of Rs 10,000 must be given after satisfying and successful internship settlement,” Regulators said.
