There is no blood component separator in Govt HOSP, funds that are sought for devices

Ghaziabad: The only government blood bank in the district in the MMG District Hospital has been running without a component separator for years, making the health department depend on private facilities for platelet sources, red blood cells and plasma.
With the case of dengue fever, where patients often need platelets, the health department has now been written to the state government that seeks funds to get equipment.
Ghaziabad has a total of 19 private blood banks and only a few of them have component separators.
In the absence of facilities, critical patients treated at government hospitals in the district often have to be taken to Meerut and Delhi for treatment.
On Wednesday, 12 cases of newly bloody fever were recorded in this district, taking this year’s calculation to 101.
More than 20 patients from other districts were also looking for treatment at the Ghaziabad Hospital.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr.
Bhavtosh Shanthhdhar said: “A dengue fever patient may require platelet transfusions if the count starts to decrease continuously.
The effort is being carried out to regulate platelets at the government level.” The separator machine is used to extract components from the blood.
“Immediately, the machine will be installed at the government’s blood bank,” CMO said.
On Wednesday, during inspection, waterlogging was found near the house of several dengue fever patients, said the source.
Several health department teams, along with corporate city and the Department of Malaria, conducted surveys in all districts.
CMO has directed all officials to monitor teamwork.
