Mangaluru: After a surge in the Covid-19 case in Dakshina Kannada, Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra directed universities in this district not to conduct classes on campus for undergraduate and postgraduate programs until September 15.
There will be no classes on campus for class IX and X, to the level of prospective down below 2%.
At the meeting held on Thursday, DC officials directed the Collegiate Education Department not to allow classes on campus, because the district had a 2.4% test level.
“We will hold an official meeting from the Collegiate Ministry of Education again, if the level of participants reduced before September 15.
Practical sessions for student science must be carried out in a batch, by following all Covid-19 guidelines.
Meanwhile, the class for students from all other streams must be done online, “DC said.
He insisted on all teaching and non-teaching staff in college to be mandatory inoculated against Covid-19.
“The Collegiate Education Department must provide details of all staff who have not received the vaccine,” he said.
In students who face the problem of internet connectivity in rural areas, Rajendra said that alternative options, including special settings to hold the physical class for them will be made.
DC said that five children, who had lost their parents or guardians to Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada, have been chosen to receive benefits under PM caring for the children’s scheme.
There is no class for class IX, X Deputy Director of Public Instruction Malleswamy said the district had postponed the start of the classes on campus for class IX and X.
