There is no compromise on the Mekedatu Water Project: Karnataka CM

Bengaluru: Regardless of protest by the Tamil Nadu BJP unit, the Minister of Chief Justice of the Bubavaraj Bommai on Thursday confirmed that there would be no “compromise” on the Mekedatu project, the state of the Cauvery River desired.
He said Tamil Nadu’s neighbor opposed it for politics.
“I don’t care about breaking down.
They play politics for politics about this problem.
Be it good for DMK, AIADMK or even my own party (BJP), there is no compromise about the construction of the Reservoir Mekedatu because it is good in our rights and we will continue the project,” said Bommai told reporters.
CM comment came on the day when the BJP TN unit was led by his President K Annamalai, former IPS officer Karnataka-cadre, carried out a hungry attack in Thanjavur against Karnataka’s move to build a reservoir in Mekedatu.
Thanjavur, the fertile Delta Cauvery region, is described as “rice bowl” Tamil Nadu.
Bommai said everyone was aware of this project to drink water, power plants and water sharing during the period of distress, and referred to his meeting with Union Minister Shakti together with the delegation of parliamentarians from the country.
“I am sure the DPR will be approved earliest.
We will also get other permission …
if anyone protests, we have nothing to do with it.
It is done for politics, we will not take into account it,” he added.
Overcoming protesters in Thanjavur, Annamalai claims the law is clearly supporting the lower Ridarian country (TN) and that Karnataka cannot continue the project without his consent.
“The River Water Dispute Act is clear.
You cannot build a dam without the approval of the lower Ridarian country.
BJP always means the welfare of farmers and it will not allow the construction of the Mekedatu reservoir,” he said.
Mekedatu is a multipurpose project, which involves building a reservoir balancing near Kanakapura in Ramanagara district.
Karnataka farmers want to ‘educate’ Tamil Nadu Mitra: Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha President Badagalapura Nagendra said on Thursday that farmers will “educate their Tamil Nadu counterparts about the benefits of the Mekedatu project” during the protest against the agricultural law of the Center is scheduled for August 21-22 , Combustion problems: Photo files from various pro-Kannada activists protest the opposition Tamil Nadu to Mekedu Drinking Water Projecthe said Tamil Nadu farmers protested three agricultural laws and had invited the agricultural community in Karnataka to join them.
“Farmers in neighboring countries have been misled by the Mekedatu project by politicians who spread false information that they would feel uncomfortable,” Alleged Nagendra.
