There is no Covid death due to lack of oxygen: Tope

Pune: Maharashtra faced a lack of medical oxygen but did not report Covid-19 deaths therefore, Minister of Health Rajesh Tope said on Friday.
He spoke to reporters in the inauguration of the National Cold Chain Research Center in Pune.
“There is no death in this country because of lack of medical oxygen.
Such deaths may occur in other countries,” he said.
The trade union government, on Tuesday, told parliament that there was no state or union area that reported death due to lack of oxygen during the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, a statement that came for great criticism of the opposition and also a health activist.
Tope, speaking at the inauguration function NCCRC Hostel, said the country manages around 3.5 doses of the lakh covid vaccine-19 per day, while it has the capacity to quit 10 lakh people per day.
“I will meet Mansukh Mandaviya’s health minister to demand more vaccine doses for Maharashtra and have asked (BJP leader and former Minister of Main) Devendra Fadnivis to participate,” Minister said.
Speaking of the reopening of the school, he said the state government would take part in the Indian Medical Research Council that lay down that educational institutions could continue after teaching and non-teaching staff at vaccinated facilities.
