A bench of the Justice Division of Dotkar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni said satisfied that Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) moved towards the right direction regarding reaching people riding to sleep to give them vaccines, and say all the other civilians and district councils in State must follow.
Drive Door-To-Door Vaccination began as a pilot project in Mumbai on July 30.
BMC on Wednesday submitted a written statement in HC, said 4,889 people rung up to bed vaccination so far, 1,317 given Jab.
Affidavit said there was no one case of bad effects after immunization (AEFI).
“This statement is very encouraging.
We record our satisfaction that BMC has moved towards the right direction.
We hope and believe that more people like it are borne in home vaccination drives,” said the court.
The bench heard the litigation of the public interest submitted by Advocate Dhruti Kapadia and Kunal Tiwari, looking for directions to the Government to begin door vaccination to the door for senior citizens over the age of 75, people who were a bed or bound by wheelchair.
The petition said people like it would not be able to go to the vaccination center.
The center has stated its inability to introduce a door-to-door vaccination drive on vaccine waste and the risk of detrimental reaction.
The Maharashtra government last month said it would start the drive and frame the policy for the same thing.
The drive starts in Mumbai as a pilot project.
On Thursday, Kapadia told the court that Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation and Thane Municipal Corporation in the neighboring district had also started the drive of vaccination home.
“We will encourage all city companies and other district councils throughout the country to start steps for vaccination of individual homes ridden by the bed in accordance with the state policies of the state and follow the same pattern as adopted by BMC,” Bench said.
The court posted a request to hear further on September 9.
