Bernd Leno started the season when the first choice goalkeeper Arsenal but manager Mikel Arteta said he was not guaranteed his place after the new signing Aaron Ramsdale kept clean sheets in the victory of the Premier League last week in the city of Norwich.
Leno Germany began three Arsenal’s first league matches from this season but were dropped after the team conceded nine goals without a reply in the match, including shy 5-0 by Manchester City late last month.
Ramsdale, who arrived from Sheffield United in August, made Arsenal’s debut in their 6-0 League Cup victory over West Bromwich Albion and then helped get their League campaign and ran with a 1-0 victory over Norwich.
“We have to change something and Aaron comes here to try to make us better,” said Arteta, whose team was 16 with three points from four matches.
“I said to the goalkeeper in the past two or three years, that we don’t want (spin).
What we want to do is empower the performance and ask them to practice, behave and play the best way.
How can I guarantee someone something?” Not in sense with what we ask them to do.
So it’s every day – what you did three months ago in football, it didn’t count.
Is what you will do today and tomorrow, and that’s it.
“Arsenal’s 18th trip placed Burnley in the league on Saturday.
