Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) not only violates its own guidelines but also released by the state government for the celebration of Puja Chhath.
On Wednesday, instead of imposing restrictions and taking action, civil bodies made arrangements for puja on several lakes by spending from their own cash.
The government has prohibited rituals on the water body quoting Covid-19 pandemic.
But city police remained spectators even because of the large number of people attacked water bodies and violated Covid guidelines.
In the guidelines issued on November 3, the State House Department has limited the celebration of the Puja Chhath to the house.
“People have to do puja in a simple way in their homes and avoid coming together to the edge of the lake, river and sea.
Also, there is no mandap that must be established,” the department said.
NMC Commissioner of the additional city of Ram Joshi on November 8 issued a circular for the implementation of government guidelines.
According to the information available from NMC officials, the same day the Civic Agency opens the quotation invited to execute the work to allow worshipers on the edge of the lake.
The quote process has been started from the beginning of November.
Work is done on the edge of Sonegaon, Ambazari, Futala, Police Line Towli, Gorewada etc.
in just two days.
The Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari and Joshi confirmed that the NMC executed the works through the tender process.
“The government should issue guidelines well in advance but delays cause confusion.
Like every year, NMC starts settings.
I plan to do BoomPIsa on November 6 when NMC officials confirmed that there was no limit from the government,” Tiwari said.
The Mayor claims he also directs NMC officials to cross-examine after receiving information about the guidelines of the media section.
“When officials learn about government orders on November 8, work has begun,” he said.
Joshi said that NMC did several works to avoid unwanted incidents on the lake.
A large number of worshipers in all groups featuring Puja in Lake Ambazari, Fulata, Sonegaon and Gorewada while ignoring Covid norms such as wearing masks and following physical pauses.
Traffic police managed to carry out traffic on the road to the lake while police personnel were deployed to the bandobast security.
None of the worshipers stopped near the lake.
NMC officials are also not visible.
According to CP Amitesh Kumar, the police confirmed compliance from all guidelines issued by the government.
Umakan Agnihotri from Uttar Bhartiya Sabha said there was no reason to impose restrictions for puja because it was only done for several hours on the edge of the bodies of water.
