Religious: Religious traders, the largest commercial city in South Odisha, have led in the war against the third wave of Covid-19 by mandating “without a mask, no ration” for customers.
Religious Byabasai Mahasangh and Desbehera Banik Sangh also urged all shopkeepers to wear masks and followed the Covid-19 guidelines.
Several members of the Trading Agency Executive Committee on Thursday night visited various stores at Bada Bazar, Silk City’s main business center, to educate shop owners about safety steps.
“We also suggest shopkeepers that people who do not wear masks should not be given services at their outlets,” said Rabindra Nath Sahu, Secretary, Angabasai Mahasangh.
“People from Seberang Ganjam and neighboring districts visit Bada Bazar for trading purposes.
There is a possibility of the spread of infection in their congregation.
There is no mask decision, no rations will help protect their shop owners, employees and their customers from the deadly virus,” said Sahu.
Municipal Corporation (BECC) has also decided to intensify its encouragement to enforce Covid guidelines, especially in the market area.
“BECC enforcement forces have been asked to enforce Covid guidelines and take steps to close any outlets that are found to violate government initiatives and district governments to keep the virus in the bay,” said Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar, Commissioner BECC.
