New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday said releasing a military official of the short commission of an army officer without a comprehensive evaluation of their ability to meet the threshold will be detrimental to the nation and armed forces.
Observations came from the SC bench at the petition submitted by 15 female officers.
The officers complained that they were evaluated under the old system left without soldiers who used a comprehensive evaluation mechanism suggested by SC in the assessment of landmarks that gave a permanent commission (PC) to SSC women.
After the troops acknowledged that officers were dismissed by retirement after completion of the 20-year service without a comprehensive evaluation as directed by SC, the bench asked the additional lawyer Sanjay Jain and senior advocate R Balasubramanian to find out whether these women reached the level threshold for the Grant of PC.
Bench asked ASG: “Does the army consider their case after an assessment?” Appearing to the Petitioner, Senior Advocate V Mohana and Huzefa Ahmedi said most applicants were those evaluated through the wrong “unit assessment unit” system, which had been abandoned by the army after paying attention to defects in this evaluation process.
The bench delayed the trial with December 10.
