Mumbai: Deputy Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar on Thursday said he had no problem with the income tax department connected by companies associated with him, but he was upset because the three sisters were dragged into this.
Pawar, who is also the Minister of Finance, said some entities related to him were raided.
“We pay taxes every year.
Because I am the Minister of Finance, I am aware of fiscal discipline.
All entities related to me have paid taxes,” said Pawar told reporters.
The entity was connected with three sisters – one who lived in Kolhapur and two in Pune – also raided, he said.
“I was annoyed because (premise) my sister, who married 35 to 40 years ago, has been raided.
If they are raided as relatives ajit pawar, then people have to think about it …
the method of medium agency (eg) is used,” he said.
The NCP leader, whose party shared strength with Shiv Sena and Congress in Maharashtra, said before the 2019 assembly poll, the name of his party Sharad Pawar was dragged into the bank case.
On Thursday’s attack, he said, “The I-T department is in a better position to say whether there is a political motive behind the attack or they find something else.” The income tax department on Thursday invaded several businesses related to family members Ajit Pawar and several real estate developers on charges of alleged tax evasion, according to official sources.
They said the search was done in Mumbai, Pune, Satara and several other cities in Maharashtra and Goa.
Premisses related to business groups such as DB Realty, Shivalik, Jarandeshwar Sahkari Sugar Karkshana (Jarandeshwar SSK) and businesses related to the pawar sisters are being borne in the ongoing operation, said the source.
Jarandeshwar SSK was in recent news, after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in July attached more than Rs 65 Crore worth land, buildings, plants and machinery from a sugar factory in Chimangaon-Koregaon in Satara under the anti-money laundering law .
Ed has claimed that the cooperative-managed sugar factory is related to the ajit of the pawar and his family.
