There is no process, mass meeting today: Patna DM

Patna: Given the Covid-19 pandemic, no religious procession and mass meeting will be permitted in the Patna District on the 10th day of Muharram, also known as Yaum-e-Ashura, on Friday.
However, Magrashekhar Habrashekhar, Chandrashekhar Singh told this reporters on Thursday that those people were free to arrange religious events in their homes in front of their family members.
DM also instructed all circle officers, police, SDOs and SDPOS to ensure that ‘Tazias’ (Replica of Mausoleum Imam Hussain) or weapons was shown in public places on Friday.
He told them that all types of procession, demonstrations, public events and programs related to Muharram would be prohibited.
Singh asked the officials concerned to coordinate with members of the Peace Committee at the block and sub-division level and ensure peace over Muharram.
“Tell them about the government’s decision and the district administration,” he said.
Police and other officials, on the other hand, were told to remain vigilant.
They were also asked to direct the circulation of unpleasant messages, photos, and rumors about the social media platform and take legal action against anti-social elements involved in the activity.
Muharram, who marked the beginning of the Islamic calendar, was observed to remember the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, Imam Hussain, and his family and friends, who were martyred by the Yazid army at Karbala in Modern Iraq at 680.
