Patna: State Education and Parliament Minister and Responsible for Nalanda, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, on Sunday stated sadness over the tragic death of 11 people due to consumption of liquor in the district.
Explain this incident as “unfortunate and shocking”, Chaudhary said people consumed false liquor and ended their lives due to mere ignorance.
“Knowing fully well that there is a total prohibition in the state, some people do not hold back from consuming liquor at their own living expenses, leaving their family members in trouble,” he said.
The minister said the Nalanda incident had confirmed the prohibition of liquor in the state.
He said the district government must identify all those involved in the trade in illegal liquor and take action against them.
The Minister wondered how several politicians demanded a legal review of the prohibition regardless of the fact that it had received extensive support.
“Do these people have demanded a legal review of cruel crimes such as murder, looting and rape? Talking about the review of the state prohibition policy is almost the same as the request to review laws against murder and rape,” he said.
Chaudhary calls people’s representatives to rise above party considerations and contribute to their needs in launching conscious campaigns.
