Thiruvananthapuram: Even though the country is in the acute power crisis, a high-level meeting organized by the Head of Pinarayi Minister Vijayan here on Monday decided not to force the shedding of the current load.
The decision has been taken after an online class that occurs in the state.
Vijayan will hold a high-level meeting on October 19 to review the situation.
After the meeting, Minister of Power K Krishnankutty said it was decided to buy power of 300MW from outside to cover the shortcomings.
He said if 300MW can be obtained from outside, then the state can go without load shedding until October 19.
To buy this power, the state will need Rs 2 Crore per day.
In the meeting, it was decided that the state government would support KSEB to buy this power that came at a higher price.
However, the minister said if lack of power exceeded 400mW, then it would create a severe crisis.
At present, from 3,800MW power is needed for the country, 1,900mW received from the central pond.
Now shortages are being faced in this pool because we don’t get 1,900 MW from the center.
