Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George said the country would not go for total locking after increasing the case of Covid-19 and Omicron.
“But other locking will greatly affect the lives and livelihoods of the people.
The government cannot impose other locks because we cannot put the lives of people into difficulties.
Economic activities must switch,” said Minister of Health.
He said people could prevent total closure if everyone adheres to the protocol and Covid-19 guidelines.
“We must be very careful to prevent it.
To curb a recent surge in this case, we will tighten the limitations and guidelines for house isolation,” he added.
At present, all district collectors have been asked to find out the room to prepare Covid’s first-line care center (CFLTC).
In an emergency situation, all CFLTCs will appear quickly to accommodate people, he said.
The minister said when omicron cases increased in the state among travelers from other countries, strict quarantine guidelines have been issued by the government.
The house quarantine must be seven days for all international passengers has been brought.
On the eighth day, RT-PCR must be done on individuals who undergo quarantine, he said.
The RT-PCR test will also be carried out in people based on their departure state.
RT-PCR is mandatory for passengers from high-risk countries on arrival at the airport.
Those who tested negatively will undergo house quarantine for seven days and were tested on eighth day.
If negative, quarantine will continue for the next seven days.
If positive, individuals will be moved into isolation and the sample will be sent for genetic sequencing.
At present, randomized testing is being carried out on passengers who come from low-risk countries.
At present, the country has reported more than 300 Omicron cases, and on Friday, the Covid-19 case has exceeded 5,000 after a long gap.
