Ahmedabad: Government Gujarat on Friday announced that the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive will be suspended on August 22, because of the Raksha Bandhan festival.
In a statement, Deputy Chief of Minister Nitin Patel, who handled a health portfolio, said the decision to take a day’s rest on Sunday (August 22) was taken so that women’s health workers involved in inoculation drives could celebrate Raksha Bandhan with their families.
Until Thursday, more than 4.19 people crore in Gujarat had been given a Covid-19 vaccine by the government.
Gujarat on Thursday recorded 19 new Coronavirus cases, who took the calculation of infection to 8.25.255, where 10,078 people had died of infection so far.
