Nagpur: Despite receiving new vaccine stocks on Saturday, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) decided to keep all Covid-19 vaccination centers in the city closed on Sundays.
Inoculation tends to remain affected for a few more days a week because the district has received very little dose.
The statement issued by NMC, Supplementary City Commissioner Ram Joshi said that the Civic body did not get enough covishield doses from the government, therefore, there would be no vaccination in NMC and government centers on Sunday.
NMC has around 6,000 covaxin doses left after vaccination on Saturday.
It received 8,800 doses on Saturday.
However, five covaxin centers will still be closed on Sundays.
The district gets 45,000 doses of covishield on Saturday.
From them, 27,000 were supplied to NMC and the remaining 18,000 to Zilla Parishad (ZP).
However, the Civic body will not vaccinate in 148 covishield centers on Sunday.
But stock covishield is likely to run out in a day if vaccination is continued on Monday.
There is no communication from the government about the next stock.
On Saturday, NMC vaccination continues only for 45-plus, which is also limited to the covishield center.
Stock is over and the center is closed at 1:00 p.m.
The covaxin dose continues for 18-plus in five centers.
On Saturday, 9,938 people took Jab in NMC centers while 986 was given a vaccine in 14 private centers.
Thus, 10,924 people benefited in the city on Saturday.
ZP continues vaccination in rural areas on Saturday and covers 3,139 people.
Thus, 14,063 people took Jab in the district on Saturday.
Requests have improved manifolds from the resumption of vaccinations of age groups 18-44 on June 23.
But the district continues to receive an inadequate number of doses.
Therefore, vaccination cannot occur in 19 of the last 32 days.
