Prayagraj: Swami Anand Swaroop, President of Shankaracharya Parishad Based on Varanasi, has called for the age of retirement of Shankaracharyas from all four of the country.
He has emphasized that only ‘capable and young’ must be given the responsibility of running Akhara and mathematics.
Speaking with Toi at the ceremony anointed Balbeer Giri in Baghambari Gaddhi Math, the Seer said, “Today, many individuals run the show in different mathematics and akhara.

“The title Mahamandelshwar must be respected to feasible fortunies and not people who can ‘buy’ the same.

He also demanded that there must be a retirement age for Shankaracharyas from four countries, including Sharada Pearham (Sringeri, Karnataka), Govardhana Matha (Puri, Odisha), Dwaraka Peerh (Gujarat) and Jyotir Math (Joshimath, Uttarakhand)).
