Mumbai: The former Indian captain Anil Kumble believes that technology will have more influence on decision making because there are no players who can ignore the existence of “data intelligence” that will come to the future.
Head coach Punjab Kings spoke on a webinar entitled ‘Building a Competitive Advantage Through Analytics Sports and Data Intelligence’ held by the Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, with the University of Deakin South Asia.
Kumble provides an example of how Drs has become a modifier of the game in the decision-making process.
“There is an influence of the DRS (decision review system) that has been on Cricket and I am sure there will be more technology influence on decision making when we participate,” Kumble said.
“Also the facts about receiving players are part of this innovation, if not, you will be left behind,” Stalwart added 619 a surprising test goal of 132 matches.
Kumle said that the debate was welcome but his personal feelings were that embracing better technology.
“I know this, we still experience the debate: Is this too much technology in sports or should I return to my own belief that” Okay, I just watch the ball, hit the ball, that’s a simple way? “Yes, that’s a simple way, but then I think if you don’t adapt to the technology that comes and use technology for the good of the game, I think people will be left behind,” explain the leg-spinner, which has 1,136 first-class goals.
The 50-year-old Kumle, who also served as the head coach of the Indian team, also felt that when we moved to the OTT platform (above), more technology would enter into sports.
“I don’t see only broadcasers who influence technology in sports but even the federation will begin to see innovative ways to bring technology into sports,” he said.
“Because many years have become TV and publishers who drive this innovation, which is good for the game and when we move to other OTT platforms, there will be more technology going into sports and for me it will be the biggest change I do see In the future, “Kumble added.
Kumble feels shorter game like T20 or a hundred, bigger will be the effect of data intelligence.
“Dependence on the data will be more, because in a short game, such as a kind of shorter format, from the test cricket, we have come to Odi Cricket, then it’s T20 now, then there (the) hundreds,” So, when the game is getting shorter, Dependence on data is far further in compiling squad, strategy, matches.
We keep talking about the match and that’s how you build a strategy around the team, so it will only be a driver, “Kumble said.
