Thick skin diseases reported in Palghar cattle

Mumbai: The administration of Palghar District has begun to vaccinate livestock after animals found infected with LSD (LSD), viral diseases.
Viruses, transmitted through blood giving insects among animals, were first discovered in the Gadchiroli district in April last year.
Palghar District Veterinary Employees Dr.
Prashant Kamble confirmed that 10-15 infections were recorded and the sample was sent to the disease investigation section, Pune.
The report was awaited.
Bovines in Dahanu, Talasari, Mokhada and Jawahar were found to have developed 2-5cm nodules on their skin.
Reduced milk production added to the worries of dairy cattle farmers.
