PARIS: Two-time runner-up Dominic Thiem was hauled out in the very first round of the French Open from Spanish journeyman Pablo Andujar 4-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 at the first important upset of the claycourt Grand Slam on Sunday.
It first appeared that Andujar’s triumph from 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer at Geneva earlier this month might count for nothing.
