Thieves throw diamonds, seen as fake, worth RS8.5L

Nagpur: Cannot identify precious stones, three interstate thieves throw diamonds worth RS8.5 Lakh.
The incident was revealed after the Government Railway Police (GRP) last week caught a thief who had done some theft on the ran train.
According to the police, thieves might think that stabbing stones with fake gold ornaments.
They broke it with stones and iron stems before throwing it away, police said.
The police said the thieves were allegedly stole the wallet from two female passengers on the Shahah-Mumbai Ship Gitanjali Express near the Gondia train station on August 10, the investigation officer and PSI Pravin Bhimte.
The thieves fled after the strike.
Both theft cases were registered at the Gondia Police Station.
Bhimte said the special team was formed after an increase in the case of theft on the train between Kolkata and Nagpur.
During filtering the graphic reservation and CCTV recording, the team led by Bhimte found three passengers from Nagaon in Assam traveling on the train during theft.
The police then filtered CCTV reserves from different train stations including Nagpur, Gondia and Durg.
A team went to Assam and detained the trio, identified as NayaneMuni Medhi (26), his sister was Dipjoyoti Medhi (22) and Sanju Rai (28).
“They melted stolen gold ornaments and sold them to the goldsmiths there.
During interrogation, in the future they did not realize that the ornaments studied with diamonds, so they threw it away,” Bhimte said.
The police have restored stolen gold worth RS10.60 lakh from the trio.
“At present, they are under the Nagpur train police PCR for four more days,” Bhimte said.
