Third vaccine dose for Indians? Experts weigh in the midst of the debate about covid immunity

New Delhi: The majority of Indian populations have not received a dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
However, the debate has begun on whether they receive both doses require a booster dose.
Vaccine manufacturers claim the booster dose may be needed for two reasons: to provide prolonged immunity and to fight the mutant variant of the Coronavirus novel.
Countries such as France, Germany and Israel, where a significant population has received a vaccine dose, is considering the third dose like the US and Britain.
However, public health experts in India, said they did not need to follow the suit.
Dr.
S K Sarin, Director, Institute of Heart and Bilier, told TII that many health workers and other vaccines approached them to complain that their number of antibodies was low even after full vaccination.
“We told them that the antibody response was just one of the protection markers offered by vaccination,” said Sarin.
“There are other factors when playing.” However, Dr.
Sarin added, however, that would be wise to start several trials at least to assess whether the third dose, or booster, can help increase the level of antibodies.
Dr.
Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS, said there was no enough data today to support the requirements for the third dose or booster.
“Now we know that vaccines cannot prevent infection transmission.
They protect against severe diseases and mortality.
Two doses of all vaccines available today are enough to achieve it,” he explained.
The World Health Organization has also summoned the termination of the booster dose to at least the end of September to allow at least 10% of the global population to vaccinate.
“So far, more than four billion doses of vaccines have been given throughout the world.
More than 80% have gone to middle and upper-income countries, even though they accounted for less than half of the world’s population,” shows Dr.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, which director General.
More importantly to immunize as many people as possible than focus on the problem of booster doses, feeling K Srinath Reddy, President, Indian public health foundation.
“We don’t know whether the booster dose is needed or what will be achieved.
But we know for sure that even a single dose offers significant protection to people against severe infections and deaths from Covid.
Therefore, we must focus on that,” said Reddy .
Havin began to vaccinate people in January, India had, until Friday, giving around 50 crore doses throughout the country.
In Delhi, 1.05 Crore doses have been given.
The Epidemiology of Independent Chandrakant Lahariya notes that the second wave of pandemics in India between April and may be due mainly because the Delta variant is now spreading to various parts of the world.
“Every decision about vaccination must depend on two main criteria: scientific reasons and operative feasibility.
The third dose needs do not meet one of them,” Lahariya said.
“There is no sufficient scientific data to support the need for additional doses also does not have enough vaccines available to experiment with the idea.” Lahariya also observed that many population clusters in India have been exposed to Coronavirus.
“Antibodic response developed through natural infections survives at least nine months.
We must prioritize all people’s vaccination for extra protection for those who have been exposed and those who are rather than focusing on the need for the third dose,” he said.
