Thiruvananthapuram: Corporate Plan Zero Revenue Attukal Pongala This Year

Thiruvananthapuram: Reeling from controversy over waste management associated with Attukal Pongala last year, City Corporation plans zero pongala expenditure in terms of labor and vehicles.
The Civic Body has reached an agreement with the Association of Lorry owners and a civil work contractor group to arrange vehicles for waste transportation on free Pongala Day.
In addition, the corporation has held talks with representatives from the population association, SPCS and NSS units to regulate labor to be involved in cleaning after Pongala.
Although it was decided that no worshipers were allowed to offer Pongala on the streets, Civic’s body still expected garbage to the surface after Pongala.
The corporation is also easy on overnight drives to clean all waste after Pongala.
It is recommended that such exercises are often charged a large number and even if the waste is removed in stages, it will not be a financial burden.
“We have held three meetings with all stakeholders.
They have agreed to support the corporation without monetary advantage.
Before Pongala Day, one more meeting will be held,” said a corporate official.
In 2021, the corporate board was rocked by corruption allegations around Attukal Pongala.
The opposition has carried out an attack on the Civic Body Board asking why corporations rented trucks and spend money on food bills when Pongala was held in the household.
A special council must also be held after controversy.
The corporation also experienced a setback when urban affairs reported the matter to hold the civil body responsible for irregularities.
The report submitted by the Urban Directorate of Urban to the Main Secretary, LSGD, after allegations of corruption in hiring vehicles for waste management related to the attukal pongala quoted that he was not rational on renting 21 vehicles to receive 21 vehicles to transport 28 waste loads.
Renu Raj, Director of Urban Affairs in the report submitted to the Main Secretary of the LSGD has recommended issuing strict instructions to City Corporation to avoid these practices in the future.
The report submitted by the Director of Urban Affairs has recorded a report submitted by the Corporate Corporation Secretary and Director of Joint Regional (RJD), Kollam, Urban affairs regarding the same problem.
The director of urban affairs has upheld RJD comments that there is no need to employ a large number of vehicles, especially when it is known that the Pongala Festival will be limited to the house.
In the corporate secretary report, it was stated that the decision about Pongala was limited to the main fireplace came only then and vehicles hired by the civil body were used to clean the pile of garbage from the Chalai drainage road and was thrown into the world market Anayara.
The utility certificate issued by officials of each health circle is also equipped with a report.
