Thiruvananthapuram: A covid patient found with an infested wound after he was dismissed from the Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital a year ago died at his residence in Vlatiyorkavu on Saturday.
He is 56 years old.
Anil Kumar suffered a neck injury after falling on August 21 last year and was hospitalized on August 22.
He was tested positive for Covid and his family members were under house isolation.
His daughter, Anjana said that they used to make a daily phone call to examine his father and they were told that he was fed and his condition stabilized saves breathing problems.
The hospital authorities say patients are given wound care usually before going out and may have been passed in his case.
He has a neck collar and it might cause sick skin, said the authorities.
Former Health Minister K K Karyaja has directed the Director of Medical Education to investigate complaints from Kumar’s family who accused the irregularities in the hospital authority and submit a report.
That patients were repatriated with infested maggots had triggered emotional anger from family members.
Memo costs are issued for staff responsible for the environment where he admits.
Discipline action was also taken against several hospital employees.
