The number of estimates needed for road restoration jobs related to one of the recent projects peaked from Rs 16 Lakh to Rs 3.74 Crore, as reported by Kerala Air Authority (KWA).
At the meeting of the recently held the state technical committee, KWA has reported that the amount for road restoration according to technical sanctions related to supplying and putting the main transmission in Akkulamp to connect the silent space on bypass junction to the pump station in Akkulam is RS 16.87 Lakh.
However, according to the actual site conditions, RS 3.74 Crore is required for road restoration.
Work has recorded a settlement of 37%.
With the increase in road restoration costs, the agreed amount was revised from Rs 6.73 Crore to 10.03 Crore.
It has been decided that the company will meet the additional costs of savings made from 18 stormwater drainage projects, which have been completed.
Between December 2018 and March 2019, a number of Rs 15.51 Crore must be spent on the implementation of the project under the supply of water and sewerage and the main shares are spent to meet the cost of cutting roads and restoration.

Of these, 13 works will require BM & BC Road cuts, which are estimated to cost Rs 5,396.29 per SQ M according to the revised level in 2019.
The new NH road is placed, also included in the list and there are three works for roads where Cutments need to be done on NH.
This work includes supplying and placing 600mm in pumping from the pump in Edathara to a waste treatment plant in Muttathara.
Minister of Water Resources Rosy Augustine recently told the assemblies who delayed the sanctions of road cuts from NHAI, was one of the reasons for failure in completing projects in the timeline.
Project officials said that sanctions have now been accepted for almost all works.
The Public Works Department has improved tariffs for road cuts based on Delhi Rates 2016 schedule and all rates for various road categories up three to four times the old price.
The KWA Managing Director has reported that the time-tied settlement of many KWA’s pipelines was hampered because of the unavailability of road cutting permits from PWD.
The government is the empowered committee to ensure that unwanted delays at the field level are avoided and the project is run in time.
