Thiruvananthapuram: Timely Intervention from an Asha worker and Beat Janamaaitri officer from the Kovalam Police Station has helped a helpless careless life that lives alone here getting very much needed medical care.
During a visit to the Nediyavila colony near Kovalam, Rajani, an Asha worker attached to the Vizhinjam Health Center, found 60-year-old Ramakanthan, who had chronic pain due to foot.
That condition not only made him lay in bed but his wounds were also filled with worms.
Rajani immediately contacted Sandhya, a nurse who worked for a palliative care unit in Vizhinjam.
Even though the nurse helped clean the wound, he realized that Ramakanthan needed the right medical treatment when his wounds still dismissed because of chronic diabetes.
Because he did not have relatives, it was impossible to shift him into the palliative care unit.
That’s when they decided to tell the Beat Janamaitri Biju and Shibunath officers.
First, the officer arranged an ambulance to shift the old man to the Thiruvananthapuram government medical college hospital for medical assistance.
They then contacted the Indian Pallium authorities here but received a negative reply because Ramakanthan did not have relatives or observers.
The officers then looked for Vengekumar Vengekumar Vengekumar vengekumar presidential intervention, who held talks with the Indian Pallium Authority and offered to be responsible.
After this, Ramakanthan was taken to the facilities in Parutikuzhy in the city.
Ramakanthan is a bachelor who lives alone.
Even though he had a sister, he was also sick of various diseases and lived in another house.
He has so far survived with the help of people in the neighborhood.
